The Career of Joseph Lane, Frontier Politician

A dissertation.  Explores the life and politics, including his loyalty to the Southern cause, leading up to the Civil War.  He was the first territorial Govenor and Senator and rose from an obscure and poverty driven childhood on the then frontier of Kentucky.  Examines his childhood, his move West, his rise and fall in politics and his last years.
