Lee Tuttle told the story of a wagon train that brought many families into Southern Oregon.  Among the families was Dr. Charles Brooks who brought 12 yokes of oxen, cattle, and four negro slaves.  He had promised their freedom iof they stayed and worked for one year.  One of the slaves became a barber in Jacksonville.
