Pear Industry in Oregon's Rogue River Valley Big Business

This 1953 article illustrates how Harry and David's company became an industry leader in pear production.  Although there are 13 other packing houses, their commercial gift business brings in nearly 6 million dollars annually.  There are 10,000 acres of pear trees, which produce 18% of our countries pears.
