Mrs. Nellie McGarvey began painting houses that her painter husband couldn't get to in Iowa. After they moved to Oregon she painted as well as wall papered houses. She also was well known in the South, and she owned 2 planes in the Santa Monica Clover Aviation Field. When she was tired of flying, she sold her planes to Tom Mix.
