Rooster Crow queen was Margaret Engle (far right); princesses were Dani Niquette and Chris Warren. The queen received a trophy and $15; princesses got $10.
13th annual Rooster Crow winner was Black Fella, with 71 crows, falling short of the record 109 set by Beetlebaum in 1953. Black Fella was owned by Lloyd Hanson, of Foster, Oregon, who had read about the competition in a newspaper article. Prize was $150 and a trophy. The entry of the governor of Utah beat Mark Hatfield's entry by a margin of one crow. (Medford Mail Tribune, June 27, 1965, page 1)
