Willene passed August 10, 2022 at the age of 84. She was born in Kalispell and raised in Montana. She graduated from the University of Montana with a double major of Theater and Music. After graduating from the San Francisco Opera Merola program, she performed as a dramatic mezzo all over the west. Her textbook Teaching Opera was published by Leyede Press in 2008.
