The Pinnacles at Crater Lake National Park. These are "pinnacles" or otherwise known as "fossil fumeroles," which where gas escaped from the glowing avalanches or pyroclastic flows triggered by the climactic eruption of Mount Mazama some 7,640 years ago. Photo by Fred Kiser, perhaps as early as 1914. "Diwie" is supposedly a Klamath word that is often spelled "Dewie" instead.
