Jacksonville, OR, Historic Houses, etc., DeRoboam (Jean St. L.) House
Notes on spelling, from Jeff LaLande:
I pulled out the vert. file and of the total 30 items that were pre-1920 in date, 25 of them used the spelling DeRoboam. However, these include the 18 items with "no space" between De and Roboam and the 7 that do have a space. Personally, I wouldn't worry about "space/no space too much (e.g., some of the County Commissioners Journal items show it one way, and a later CoComm Journal entry does it the other way... The "no space" version of DeRoboam definitely predominates in the earlier-date items (1860s-1890s).
Of other spellings in the vert. file, there are three: de Roboam 3 items); Deroboam (1 item), and de Rhoaboam (1, clearly [to me, at least] a 1918 newspaper-article error).
I found no evidence of there being two separate, un-related families. just this one somewhat prolific bunch that hailed from France, including the inimitable Jeanne.
