Port Orford Problems

From explorers and Russian fur traders to Captain William Tichenor, seamen knew the wide, deep-water bay at the present location of Port Orford, Oregon, was a good place for a port. Tichenor founded the town in 1851, and from 1856 on, a small wooden wharf was maintained by individuals for limited shipping, incoming supplies and fishing.
