Ashland’s Name Has Roots in Henry Clay’s Kentucky Estate

In the 1850s, Abel Helman and Eber [ee-BEAR] Emery established the first lumber and flour mills on what would soon become the downtown plaza of Ashland, Ore. They named the mills after their original home in Ashland County, Ohio.
