Prospecting for Gold

Notes

From Dogtown to Virginia City, 1852-1864

Originally published as V 1 of Granville Stuart's Forty Years on the Frontier (Paul Phillips, ed)

Granville Stuart lived the life of a frontiersman and kept a detailed daily diary every day of the first 40 years he lived on the frontier, as a trader and packer, a prospector, a merchant and cattleman.  In later life he attempted to edit and mold all that into a narrative.  His work ended with his death, and was taken on by an editor.
