Skeeters, Charles

Born on father's property known as "401 Orchard". : Superintendent of a placer mine on Forest Creek. Hobby making violins, over 50 years, played at social gatherings, in lodge and Grange Halls. Played in large community hall known as the Angel Opera house in Medford. It took him from 6 to 12 months to make a violin. He experimented with native woods, cherry, cascara, maple, white and black oak and myrtle wood. Also made a square violin. Mr. Skeeters gave it to the late Henry Amidon, Father of E. C. Amidon of Medford, who came out from Michigan on a visit, and the visitior took it back for the Ford collection. Charles mother's parents operated a hotel at Sterling.
