Curry, Ann

Ann Curry is a broadcast journalist, locally with KOBI as a reporter, and was also at KTVL in Medford 1978-1987. Regionally, Curry was an anchor reporter at KGW, the Portland NBC affiliate from 1981-1984. Curry had national exposure with MSNBC as a daytime anchor, and a substitute Sunday anchor. In March 1997, Curry was named news anchor on NBC News Today and she was co-anchor on the Today Show October 9, 2011-June 28, 2012. To date, Curry's reporting career has had several highlights including an exclusive interview with the parents of Iowa's McCaughly septuplets; an Emmy for the live coverage of the October 1987 Los Angeles earthquake and San Bernadino gas pipeline explosion; the humanitarian crisis in Kosovo, April 1999; wars in war zone reports from Syria and Rwanda; and the 2011 Japanese Tsunami. Curry has been a four time winner of the Golden Microphone Award.
Curry was the first in her family to attend college. Her father (Robert Paul Curry) was in the US Navy, and her mother (Hiroge Nagase Curry) is said to be the daughter of a Japanese farmer.
